****IMPORTANT****

In order to receive loot and streamline the process all raiders are required to have installed:

Philosophy - Why use EPGP?

EPGP is a mature and established loot system that evolved from the original albiet crude DKP system. While mathematically complicated, it is transparent, fair and highly configurable.

Our current raid group consists of 14 members. The new itemization and loot drop tables Blizzard has adopted for WoD can make loot choices a nightmare. There are few things that are "Oh that drop definitely goes to WaRLoCK69". We need a transparent and fair way of allowing players to acquire gear while also promoting an influx of high quality recruits so we can grow to a 20 man Mythic raid group.

EPGP  is a loot system designed to reward effort:
  • Attendance  - Punctuality and consistency
  • Preparation - Character optimization, research fights, gemmed, enchanted and flasked
  • Performance - Not repeatedly making the same mistakes that wipe the raid (ie. standing in fire). Performing to a certain degree with regards to your class/spec and current iLevel

EPGP prevents issues that "point systems" generally have such as point hoarding. EPGP decays over time so that the barrier of entry for fresh people is not insurmontable but at the same time preserving recognition and priority for those that have been putting in the time and effort.

How does EPGP work?

EPGP stand for Effort Points Gear Points. This will be an extremely simplistic explanation. Please see the linked video for a deeper understanding of the system.

Raiders are awarded EP (EFFORT POINTS) for things like showing up to the raid on time, staying for the entirety of it, performing well, having their character fully optimized and also knowing the boss fights.

When a raider wins an item, GP (GEAR POINTS) are added to the equation and will in effect, lower the raider's priority for the next item he/she wants.

The EPGP equation:

PR (Priority Rating) = EP divided by GP

To prevent the hoarding of points, EP decays at a certain percentage each week (to be determined)

Example of EPGP in use:

1. Warlock69 and MagicMike the Mage both show up on time at 7pm for raiding on Thursday:

Both get 3000 EP

2. Warlock69 is fully gemmed, enchanted and has flasks. MagicMike is missing enchants and gems because "Hey my shit is gonna get replaced with l33t purplez soon anywayz RIGHT GAIS?!":

Warlock69 is award 2000EP and MagicMike gets 0 EP and a warning.

3. Warlock69 and MagicMike both stay till end of raid and surprisingly MagicMike doens't fuck anything up and does pretty solid dps:

Both get 3000 EP

4. Warlock69 and MagicMike the Mage both show up on time at 5pm for raiding on Sunday:

Both get 3000 EP

At this point the EP totals are:

Warlock69 = 12000EP

MagicMike = 9000EP

5. Boss goes down, Dagger of Caster Nutbustin' Goodness drops:

Warlock69's EPGP or Priority is = 12000EP/1GP = 12000 (remember he hasn't acquired any gear yet so his GP is 1)

MagicMike's EPGP or Priority is = 9000EP/1GP = 9000

Warlock69 WINS the item.

Because the item was a sought after weapon that has a profound impact on his performance as opposed to say a belt, its GP cost is higher than other items -- 1500GP.

Warlock69's EPGP is now 12000EP/1500GP = 8

MagicMike if he wins a belt or some gloves via EPGP later that costs 1000GP will have an EPGP of 9000EP/1000GP = 9

MagicMike will have priority still BUT Warlock69 received a much more tremendous upgrade than MagicMike did. The weapon will still be a bigger DPS increase than two off-slot items like a belt and cloak.

Holy shit, too much reading, too much maths TLDR please?

***NOTE***: It's FOUR years old. Only take away how the EPGP calculations work. The GP cost assignment will be tuned for WoD and unique to our raid.

This seems like a lot of work...

That's why we're using an addon that does everything automatically and posts the EPGP list after each raid. Just need to set it up.

Tying it all together

EPGP is still an IMPERFECT system. There is no such thing as a perfect loot system. But after much analysis, research on what's out there and contemplation - EPGP may be a great fit for our raid and the new WoD loot changes.

Should the need arise for a different loot system, there is flexibity in hearing the majority opinion on trying something new.

With that being said one of our main purposes as a raid is to PROGRESS. If EPGP turns out inconducive to progression, we will change the way loot is distributed.

If healers are OOMing and simply can't keep up with raid damage they will get priority

If tanks are being 2-3 shot, they will get priority

If we are hitting enrage timers or not able to smoothly complete mechanics (ie downing adds in time) due to a lack of DPS then DPS get priority

Understandably, all 3 aspects are synergistic with each other as well but it will be easy to spot if one aspect is the glaring bottleneck.

Important Rules and Guidelines:

All new raiders must accrue a minimum of 6000 EP before being able to roll on items (attendance of 2 full raids)

Exceptions will be made more often than not i.e. no core raider needs the gear and it would go to DE. This rule is in place moreso to protect core raiders from having a trial come in and take gear from them and leave. You are more than encouraged to use your seals for bonus rolls during your trial period though.

  EP Awards:

+1000 EP for each hour of raiding

  EP Penalties:

-500 EP for not showing up on time
-500 EP for not being fully enchanted/gemmed
-500 EP for not being flasked and potted for fights

  GP Costs:

  2H Weapon - 1500 GP
  1H Mainhand - 1000 GP
  Offhand - 500 GP
  Trinkets - 1000 GP
All other peices - 500 GP
  Tier Pieces - TBD

Offspec rolls are free (priority may go to needed offspecs i.e. the ret paladin needs a tank set to fill in for absences)

Minor upgrades cost half the GP
